BANK HOLIDAYS 2020: MAHARASHTRA STATE

The Government of Maharashtra declared the following days as holidays for the year 2020 under section 25 of NI Act (Negotiable Instrument Act) 1881.

All Sundays and 2nd & 4th Saturdays are Bank Holidays under the explanation to section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act 1881. (This holiday rule is applicable to all commercial and co-operative banks operating in entire India). Therefore, following holidays (Sunday) are NOT SEPERATELY DECLARED AS HOLIDAYS.

  1. Republic Day 26th January 2020
  2. Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi) 16th August 2020
  3. Moharram 30th August 2020
  4. Dasara 25t October 2020

If any of the holidays for the festivals of Muslim fraternity notified above does not fall on the date notified, the holiday date may be altered by the concerned government or the community fraternity in government service may be granted special holidays on the date observable.
