Bank Holidays 2023 under NI Act: Kerala State

The Government of Kerala State vide Govt. notification G. O. (P) No. 23/2022/GAD. Dated, 26th October 2022, declared the following days as public HOLIDAYS for the year 2022 under Section 25 of NI Act (Negotiable Instrument Act) 1881.

The following festivals/occasions which fall on public holidays (Sundays) have been excluded from the above list. The branches of banks which work on these days will observe holidays for the same day.

 (1) Easter Sunday 9.4.23,

 (2)  Deepavali  Sunday 12.11.23

*Subject to change in the appearance of the moon.

All Sundays and 2nd & 4th Saturdays are Bank Holidays under the explanation to section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act 1881.

If any of the holidays for the festivals of the Muslim fraternity notified above does not fall on the date notified, the holiday date may be altered by the concerned government or the community fraternity in government service may be granted special holidays on the date observable.
