Bank customers can now withdraw cash from ATMs without using physical cards. Even if you do not hold debit cards from your bank, still you can easily use this facility to withdraw money. Multiple banks in India have introduced interoperable cardless cash withdrawal (ICCW) enabled ATMs. The cash withdrawal transaction will be facilitated through a single-use dynamic QR code displayed on the ATM.
UPI-ATM is an Interoperable Cardless Cash Withdrawal (ICCW) service that facilitates participating banks’ customers who are live on UPI to withdraw cash from any participating banks’ ATMs (enabled for UPI- ATM) without using their card.
When a customer approaches a UPI-enabled ATM, he will see the ‘UPI cash withdrawal’ options on the screen. Once the customer selects the option ‘UPI cash withdrawal’ at the ATM, the customer shall be prompted to enter the withdrawal amount. After entering the amount, a single-use dynamic QR code (signed) shall be displayed on the ATM screen. The customer needs to scan the QR code using any UPI APP* and authorize the transaction with a UPI PIN on the mobile (UPI APP) to get cash from the ATM.

- Transaction limit is up to ₹10,000/- per transaction. It shall be part of the existing UPI per day limit and as per the limits set by the Issuer Bank for UPI-ATM transactions.

ICCW (Interoperable Cardless Cash Withdrawal) process removes any card-related frauds that can happen in an ATM, such as card cloning, skimming, etc. since no card is used here. The use of QR codes helps to ensure safety in transactions.
As per RBI direction CO.DPSS.POLC.No.S-227/02-10-002/2022-23 dated May 19, 2022, all banks, ATM networks, and WLAOs may provide the option of ICCW at their ATMs. The on-us / off-us ICCW transactions shall be processed without levy of any charges other than those prescribed under the circular on Interchange Fee and Customer Charges. Withdrawal limits for ICCW transactions shall be in line with the limits for regular on-us / off-us ATM withdrawals. All other instructions related to the Harmonisation of Turnaround Time (TAT) and customer compensation for failed transactions shall continue to be applicable.
