RBI tells the public to use non-cash digital payment options (like NEFT, IMPS, UPI and BBPS) which are available round the clock to facilitate fund transfers, purchase of goods/services, payment of bills, etc.
The above announcement of the Central Bank came in the light of the fallout of the Corona virus pandemic in India. The public may utilize facilities like mobile banking, internet banking, cards, etc. By shifting to digital payment from the cash payment option facilitates the user the comfort of sitting at home that is efficient, convenient, safe, secure and affordable it said. Non-cash payment would avoid unnecessary social contacts and using cash which may require going to crowded places for sending money or paying bills, it added. Online channels like mobile banking, internet banking, cards, etc. are good substitutes for sending money or paying bills without using currency notes.
