Maharashtra State Bank Holidays – 2026

The Government of Maharashtra has separately declared 24 Public Holidays for the year 2026 under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, as per Notification No. PHD.1125/C.R.199/Japuk (29), dated 5th December, 2025.
Note:
1. Annual Accounts Closing holiday on 01.04.2026 is restricted to Banks only and is not applicable to Government Offices.
2. The State Government has also declared an additional holiday on 11th November 2026 (Bhaubeej) for Government and local body offices.

All Sundays and 2nd & 4th Saturdays are Bank Holidays under the explanation to section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act 1881. (This holiday rule is applicable to all commercial and co-operative banks operating in entire India). If any of the holidays for the festivals of Muslim fraternity notified above does not fall on the date notified, the holiday date may be altered by the concerned government or the community fraternity in government service may be granted special  holidays on the date observable.
