Chhattisgarh – Bank Holidays under NI Act, 1881 for the Year 2026

The General Administration Department, Government of Chhattisgarh, has announced the list of public holidays for the year 2026. Based on the said notification and reproduced secondary sources, the following Bank Holidays are observed under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 in the State of Chhattisgarh.

Note: Islamic festival holidays are subject to change depending on moon sighting. Banks may also observe additional holidays such as second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays as per RBI guidelines.

All Sundays and 2nd & 4th Saturdays are Bank Holidays under the explanation to section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act 1881. (This holiday rule is applicable to all commercial and co-operative banks operating in entire India). If any of the holidays for the festivals of Muslim fraternity notified above does not fall on the date notified, the holiday date may be altered by the concerned government or the community fraternity in government service may be granted special  holidays on the date observable.
