Bank holidays 2023:   Punjab State

GOVERNMENT OF PUNJAB, DEPARTMENT OF PERSONNEL,(PERSONNEL POLICIES-III BRANCH) vide notification no 06/05/2022/2PP3/985 dated 13.12.2023

Under the Explanation to Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 (Central Act XXVI of 1881) read with the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Notification No.20-25/26/Pub.1, dated 08.06.1957, the Government of Punjab hereby declare that in addition to Sundays expressly defined as Public Holidays in the said “Explanation”, the following shall be observed as Holidays under  Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 (Central Act XXVI of 1881)in the State of Punjab during the year 2023:-

April 1, all Sundays, and the 2nd & 4th Saturdays are Bank Holidays under the explanation to section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act 1881. (This holiday rule is applicable to all commercial and cooperative banks operating in the entire India).

If any of the holidays for the festivals of the Muslim fraternity notified above does not fall on the date notified, the holiday date may be altered by the concerned government or the community fraternity in government service may be granted special holidays on the date observable.
