“Under the explanation to Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act 26 of 1881) read with the Notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs No. 20/25/56/Pub-1 dated 8th June, 1957, the Government of Goa in its Notification Series II no 28 dated 9th October 2025, declared bank holidays as provisions under section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act 1881.

1st April AND all Sundays and 2nd & 4th Saturdays OF EVERY YEAR are  HOLIDAYS FOR BANKS under the explanation to section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act 1881. (*This holiday rule is applicable to all commercial and co-operative banks operating in entire India).

*If any of the holidays for the festivals of Muslim fraternity notified above does not fall on the date notified, the holiday date may be altered by the concerned government or the community fraternity in government service may be granted special  holidays on the date observable.
