The Government of Gujarat has declared 18 public holidays under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, for the calendar year 2026, as per Notification No. No.GS/22/2025/JSR/2025/509/GH dated27.11.2025

In addition to 18 declared holidays, 1 April 2026 (Wednesday) is a bank holiday exclusively for yearly closing of bank accounts, and financial institutions.

All Sundays and 2nd & 4th Saturdays are Bank Holidays under the explanation to section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act 1881. The following Holidays which fall on Sundays not included in the list.

  1. Mahashivratri 15.2.2026(Sunday), 2.Parashurama Jayanti 19.4.2026 (Sunday), 3.Diwali 8.11.2026 (Sunday)

The following all second and fourth Saturdays of every month are also bank holidays. 

  • Second Saturdays in 2026: Jan 10, Feb 14, Mar 14, Apr 11, May 9, Jun 13, Jul 11, Aug 8, Sep 12, Oct 10, Nov 14, Dec 12.
  • Fourth Saturdays in 2026: Jan 24, Feb 28, Mar 28, Apr 25, May 23, Jun 27, Jul 25, Aug 22, Sep 26, Oct 24, Nov 28, Dec 26.
